Buying Beef in Bulk - What to Expect

Pre-Harvest

When you reserve bulk beef, you're reserving a quarter, half, or whole beef from cattle that are currently still growing on our farm.

  • You reserve your share with a deposit. ($600 for Quarter, $1200 for Half, $2400 for Whole Beef)

  • The cattle continue to finish on our farm until their scheduled processing date.

  • Once the steers are harvested and hanging, we receive the hanging weight.

  • Pricing is based on hanging weight, which is the most consistent way to price bulk beef regardless of how it's cut.

  • Estimated weight ranges are provided because individual steers can vary in weight.

After Harvest

  • Beef is dry aged for approximately two weeks before cutting.

  • Once Rode's Meats gives us the hanging weight, you'll receive the final balance due for the beef.

  • Final take home weight varies by cut preferences.

Processing and Pickup

  • If you chose We Do It For You option, we provide the cut sheet to the butcher and pay the processing fees on your behalf.

  • If you choose the Do It Yourself option, you will need to contact the Rode's Meats directly to place your cut sheet instructions.

  • After cutting and packaging, the butcher will notify you when your beef is ready.

  • Beef is packaged in convenient boxes from Rode's Meats for pick up.

  • Pickup happens directly at Rode's Meats in Delphos, Ohio, where you'll load the boxes into your vehicle and head home to fill your freezer.

  • Processing fees are paid at pickup if you selected the Do It Yourself Option.

If you've never purchased bulk beef before, we'll help guide you through the process and make it straightforward.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How is my beef packaged and shipped?

Your beef is professionally butchered at a USDA-inspected facility, vacuum-sealed for freshness, and shipped frozen in insulated boxes with dry ice. Orders are sent via UPS or FedEx, and we’ll provide tracking information once your order ships so you know exactly when to expect it!

  • What are my payment options?

You can choose to pay in full at checkout or place your order with a 50% non-refundable deposit. If you choose the deposit option, the remaining balance will be due when the steers go in for processing, and we will send you an invoice for final payment.

  • What cuts of beef will I receive in a bulk order?

Every order includes a variety of steaks, roasts, and ground beef—all farm-raised and free of antibiotics or hormones. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate specifically requested cuts, but each order is carefully packed to ensure a great mix of premium and everyday cuts.

  • When will I get my beef?

Bulk beef orders are fulfilled in the order they are received. Due to the nature of small-batch processing, fulfillment takes time — but rest assured, we’ll keep you updated regularly by email so you always know where your order stands. From processing timelines to shipping details, we’ll keep you informed every step of the way.
