About Us

Hey, I’m Jared — the face behind Elwer Land and Cattle. When I’m not working on the farm, I’m usually down at the river fishing for smallmouth with my dog, Merle. He’s a big ham and never needs a leash, though he’s been known to swim right through the spot I’m casting into. I’ve got a soft spot for old tractors, motorcycles, trucks — and the people who still know how to work on them. Most weekends, you’ll find me around a fire with friends or out with my girlfriend, Kari, chasing good BBQ and better burgers.

Around the farm, it’s a team effort, but I handle most of the cattle side — feeding, bedding, baling, and everything in between. I also run the direct-to-consumer beef business, which means I’m the one building the website, packing the boxes, and handwriting the thank-you notes. If you get one you can’t quite read… that was me. I’ll try to write clearer next time.

I started this because I wasn’t satisfied with how we were doing things — raise the animal, load it on a truck, and watch it disappear into a system that treats food like a commodity. It didn’t feel right. I wanted to build something meaningful, something real. It hasn’t been easy, but my long-term vision is to make this farm regenerative and sustainable — to improve the land, support local families, and offer a better alternative to factory-raised meat. We’ve got a long road ahead, but we’re moving in the right direction, one steer at a time.
