About Us
Hey, I’m Jared — the face behind Elwer Land and Cattle.
When I’m not working on the farm, you’ll usually find me fishing for smallmouth bass down at the river with my dog, Merle. He’s kind of a big ham, but he’s a good boy. No leash needed, he just does his thing. Unless I’m trying to fish... then he’s usually swimming right through the best spots.
I like long motorcycle rides, and I’ve got a soft spot for old things, whether it's tractors, motorcycles, people, or trucks. But not mowers.especially the one I had when I first bought my house. It broke down every single time I tried to mow.
Weekends are for fires, a few beers with close friends, or going out with my girlfriend, Kari, to find the best burgers and BBQ we can. I believe in faith, hard work, and that some of the best things in life are also the simplest.
Around the farm, it’s a team effort, but my role is mostly on the livestock side. I handle most of the cattle work from feeding, bedding, baling, and all the other chores that go into raising steers. I also run the direct-to-consumer side of the business, which means I’m the guy building the website, packing the boxes, and handwriting the thank-you notes. If you ever get one you can’t quite read … yeah, that was me. I’ll try to write clearer next time.
I started this beef business because I wasn’t satisfied with how we were doing things. Raise the animal, load it on a truck, and watch it disappear into the system. It just didn’t sit right with me. I wanted something more meaningful. Something we could build on our own terms.
It hasn’t been easy, changing the way things have been done for generations never is, but my long-term vision is to make this farm more regenerative and sustainable. To improve the land, support local families, and offer a real alternative to factory-raised meat.
We’ve got a long road ahead, but we’re making progress — one steer at a time.
Thanks for being here. Thanks for caring about where your food comes from. I don’t take your time or your trust lightly.
